11/10/10 – Asiamold indicates China continues to lead in the Automotive Industry
11 October 2010
Asiamold International trade fair for mould making and tooling, design and application development was held at the Polyworld Trade Centre Expo in Guangzhou, China, from September 15 to17.
The Chinese mould and die market continues to grow at a steady pace. In the first nine months of 2009, sector imports were valued at $1.47 billion and exports at $1.33 billion. Most moulds being imported and exported during this time frame were for plastic injection. Next most important were die-casting moulds.
This market change also indicates a rising demand in the Automotive manufacturing industry in China. Competitive labour rates and increasing domestic demand for motor vehicles have led more and more auto brands to relocate manufacturing operations to China.
In 2009, China surpassed the United States and Japan to become the leading car-manufacturing nation. The considerable potential for auto component production in China, and the growing demand there for specialised auto moulds, suggests why 70% of the popular Automold Zone at Asiamold 2010 had already been reserved by January 2010.
The new Plastics Design Zone launched at this year’s Asiamold, where suppliers of hot runner technology, injection moulding materials, injection technology, engineering and CAD/CAM systems exhibited together.
With its exhibition concept “from design to prototyping to series production,” Asiamold was attended by thousands of professional buyers and senior decision makers from various manufacturing companies, including Canon, Mitsubishi, Panasonic and Siemens.
Asiamold is organized by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with DEMAT GmbH and the Hong Kong Mould & Die Council. At the 2009 show, a total of 298 exhibitors were visited by 10,468 buyers from 36 countries.
