15/9/10 – SME's Conference Call for the Technical Community
15 September 2010
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has arranged a virtual meeting on September 24 from 1-2pm (Eastern Time.) The conference call takes place on the third Friday of every month and is intended for SME members as well as guests who have an interest in various manufacturing applications.
This event is designed to unite the SME’s Machining and Material Removal Technical Community (MMR) and provide an opportunity to discuss cutting processes and machining systems. One current project managed by the group is ‘Finishing for Performance’ where members collaborate their data on performance and surface life of parts to edge and surface finish values.
The MMR Community also offers opportunities for further learning and networking via various Technical Groups. These groups include: Cutting Tool and Tool Systems Tech Group, Deburring, Edge Finishing and Surface Conditioning and Abrasives Cutting Processes Tech Group.
The abrasives group provides a platform for abrasives machining professionals and trainers to meet and exchange ideas on the advancement of fixed and loose-abrasive grinding process technology. The group’s aim is to network, collaborate, create dialog and serve as a forum for ideas.
