15/6/10 – Meccanica Nova Implements Green Technology Initiative

Meccanica Nova a leading manufacturer of CNC grinding systems for the automotive, aerospace and bearing industry has installed a self-sustaining clean energy system at its headquarters in Bologna, Italy. The environmentally friendly system consisting of photovoltaic modules was introduced during the buildings construction and went live December 18, 2008.
Director of Sales and Marketing, Andrea Catone said, “The Facility’s entire roof has been exploited, the total surface of 50,980sq.ft. has been covered by 3,425 photovoltaic panels. The system is capable of developing 648kWp of Maximum peak output which is estimated to produce 738,720kWh/yr of Clean Energy.” The constructions roof has been built at the optimum angle of 14 degrees orientation to the sun for energy production.
Since the implementation of the green technology, Meccanica Nova, founded in 1937, has produced over 75,000kWh of clean energy and saved 17,321 Tons of CO2 and 43,262 Barrels of crude oil.
This is not the only environmentally friendly offering from Meccanica Nova, who also focus on investing heavily back into the business. Catone said, “We believe that our philosophy to reinvest profits back into our company has helped us maintain our benchmark status in the industry. Our machines are in-use to produce components for fuel efficient and low emission engines as well as wind-energy turbines.”
