26/10/10 – 3M's New Fashion Helmets for Female Welders
26 October 2010
Coated abrasives manufacturer 3M has brought out a new range of helmets specifically designed for women.
3M Speedglas 100 helmets protect women welders with the expected quality and safety standards without sacrificing on fashion. The helmets feature an ergonomic headband that accommodates smaller head sizes, and optional accessories such as additional neck and head protection and magnifying lenses.
Aicha Kabil of 3M’s Occupational Health & Environmental Safety Division explained: “Building on the success of the existing Speedglas 100 graphic helmet designs, we can now offer a unique product for the female welding segment. In many cases, welders use their helmets as an avenue for personal expression – they want a helmet that they are proud to wear. Each design expresses a characteristic ‘welding personality’ but with a slightly more feminine expression.”
3M said that the collection takes inspiration directly from women welders. There are four distinct designs available: Steel Rose, Wild-N-Pink, Steel Eyes and Skull Jewels – an elaborate floral grill motif which incorporates a decorative skull and floral design.
Each of these designs is available with an auto-darkening filter (ADF), and offers the same protection, comfort and performance for which the Speedglas brand is known.
The helmets can be used with most arc welding processes, such as stick (MMA), MIG/MAG and TIG applications greater than 10 amps.
