25/10/10 – Carbodiam Attacks Construction Market with Two Diamond Tooling Solutions
25 October 2010
Following a development programme, Carbodiam, a leading player in diamond tooling solutions to the stone and construction industry, has introduced two products, Incisor Gold and Tornador. With productivity and reduction in operating costs, key drivers for the industry, Carbodiam’s latest products are designed to offer increased life and reduced ownership costs.
Incisor Gold is a diamond blade targeted for dry cutting applications for construction material, reinforced concrete, granite as well as iron, cast iron and metals. This, says the company, is a successor to its ‘best-in-class’ Incisor tool and is the result of considerable research and development effort.
Targeted at dry cutting applications, Incisor Gold employs diamond segments with a 13mm full diamond height. The Incisor design, which has patented features, presents a reduced lateral contact surface. This results in lower friction (up to 50% less than the standard blade design), generates less heat and, says the company, provides more cutting power. As the blade is capable of cutting through a diverse range of materials, Incisor Gold supports productivity by avoiding the need to change between cutting blade types.
The Tornador is a wet drill crown aimed at reducing the total cost per job. This tool for core drilling applications incorporates a diamond tip which has a full diamond height of 10mm. The diamond segment tips has been designed to offer rapid and stable start up as well as a long drilling life and can be used for drilling even the hardest reinforced concrete. The Tornador has also been designed for easy on site retipping. The tool has an integrated V-groove on the crown back face to facilitate centring of the tube. In addition, the internal conical design of the Tornador ensures easy removal of the core.
