21 September 2010
Electronic versions of technical books will become available to download thanks to an agreement between SAE International and ASM International. The electronic versions of the books can be sold as individual chapters or as complete books.
Initially some 29 titles will be available for download and an example of what can eventually be downloaded include:
Understanding How Components Fail, 2nd Ed.
Corrosion: Understanding the Basics
Titanium: A Technical Guide, 2nd Ed.
Introduction to Aluminium Alloys and Tempers
Heat Treatment of Gears: A Practical Guide for Engineers
Superalloys: A Technical Guide, 2nd Ed.
Aluminium-Silicon Casting Alloys: Atlas of Microfractographs
Fatigue and Durability of Structural Materials
The agreement is the first in SAE’s new Content Partnership Programme, which seeks to expand SAE International’s publishing programme by partnering with book publishers, industry experts, multimedia producers and a variety of other technical knowledge providers. This includes the resale of premium content from sources such as commercial publishers, think tanks and research-driven corporations, co-publishing opportunities, recruiting new authors with expertise in cutting-edge technologies, and acquiring exclusive magazine and newsletter content.
