Krummenauer appoints Kennametal as its Distributor
21 October 2010
Krummenauer, the German manufacturer of longwall shearer and proprietary high-performance cutting drums which are used in longwall mining, has appointed US company Kennametal as its distributor in various parts of the world.
According to the agreement, Kennametal will distribute Krummenauer products in North and Latin America, Northern Europe, India and Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand. The two companies also operate joint sales and distribution efforts in Russia, China, and Mongolia.
Krummenauer designs and manufactures shearer drums and cutting systems, including proprietary globoid cutting drums. Krummenauer globoid drums feature non-continuous gear threads and half-round gear profiles, exhibiting increased loading volumes compared to standard cylinder drums.
In addition to optimised loading capabilities, Krummenauer globoid drums are said to help increase coal lump size and decrease fines and respirable dust. Optimised loading also aids in reducing power consumption of longwall mining machines, further cutting production costs. Drums can be fitted with the highly successful Kennametal K225 block, or the proprietary EB water-spray system, which meets established safety and dust-reduction standards.
Based in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Kennametal Inc. is the leading global supplier of carbide tooling and associated engineering services for successful underground mining. Kennametal is also a major tooling and systems supplier for surface mining and road-construction and road-rehabilitation projects.
