Sandvik Mining and Construction to be supplier for Rio Tinto’s expansion of Pilbara iron ore capacity in Australia

Rio Tinto Iron Ore has confirmed that Sandvik Mining and Construction will be their preferred supplier of mobile machines for the iron ore capacity expansion in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Sandvik have commissioned 9 Sandvik mobile machines for mid 2013 at several port and mine sites and several machines in the year thereafter.
This project is one of the largest mining projects ever undertaken in Australia. It confirms Rio Tinto’s strength as Australia’s leading long-term supplier of iron ore. Rio Tinto is a global leader in the exploration, mining and processing of minerals and metals, including aluminum, copper, diamonds, energy products, gold, industrial minerals and iron ore.
During the past 15 years of cooperation, Sandvik has successfully completed several Materials Handling projects by providing 32 mobile machines for Rio Tinto Iron Ore in Australia, including projects at Dampier and Cape Lambert in the Pilbara Region.
